The RSL collection of Periodicals encompasses the time limits beginning with the year of 1725 and till nowadays.

Here are represented approximately 200 titles of Russian magazines and journals in diverse subjects, that including literary magazines.

The species of a particular value are the journals of the 19th century and the editions of the first half of the 20th century that including the modernist issues of the Silver Age. There are rarities here that have become milestones in the development of Russian culture): “Russian Olden Times”  (“Russkaya Starina”), “Bulletin of Europe” (“Vestnik Evropy”) published by Mikhail Kachenovsky, “The Red Novelty” (“Krasnaya Nov”), “The Scales”, magazines of eparchy different regions, “Proceeding of the Imperial Russian Historical and Military Society”, etc. The majority of them are digitised and available in open access for the entire publication period. Users can also look through a range of journals published by Russian abroad.

The collection of periodicals contains the contemporary editions as well, the access to which is provided on the basis of the RSL contracts with copyright owners. Then, you will find  the journals published by the Russian State Library itself.

A part of the collection is represented by the editions of certain years or issues. All these are electronic copies produced upon our users’ requests.
